Alternative methods to exercise

Exercise is important. It’s good for your heart and it helps you lose weight. But, let’s face it. Most people hate exercising. Some of us can’t afford a gym membership or don’t have time for a regular workout schedule, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on getting fit altogether. There are plenty of ways to get those endorphins pumping without having to break out the old sweatpants and sneakers. Here are some unusual methods of exercise that might just help you feel better about yourself and keep boredom at bay.

Exercise by taking the stairs

Stairs are a great way to get some exercise. They’re good for your heart and lungs, they’re great for your legs and butt, and they’re even better for your mood. Plus, stairs are also good for your brain, a recent study found that by running upstairs instead of taking an elevator or escalator, you can boost your thinking skills by as much as 30%. And don’t forget that the simple act of climbing the stairs is actually one of the best things you can do to protect yourself from back pain too.

Take a brisk walk around your neighborhood after dinner

Walking around your neighborhood is one of the best ways to get some exercise. It’s a great way to stay healthy, it can help you get in shape, and it can even improve your mood. You’ll also get some fresh air and enjoy being outside as you walk around your neighborhood. You don’t need any special equipment or gear just make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are appropriate for walking outdoors.

Play outside with your kids (or pets)

Between work and school and soccer practice, it can be hard to find time (and energy) to get in some exercise. But there are plenty of ways to incorporate movement into your daily routine. Even if it doesn’t involve hitting the gym or doing another lap around the block. If you want to stay active without having to make any drastic changes in your schedule, try incorporating one of these ideas into your life.

Play outside with your kids. When was the last time you played kickball? Or had a water balloon fight? Maybe it’s been a while since those things were popular (or even possible for some of us). While taking an afternoon stroll around the neighborhood might not seem like much fun at first glance, think about how much fun it will be when you go back inside with all that fresh air under your belt not just in terms of health benefits but also as an enjoyable memory that both children and parents will cherish forevermore.

Dance in your kitchen

There’s no better way to add some movement into your day than dancing in the kitchen. It’s a great way to relieve stress, have fun, socialize and meet new people.

Here are some steps you can take:

  • Turn on some music and dance around your house
  • Play games with your kids or partner that involve moving around (like Simon Says)

Going on a hike somewhere

Hiking is a great way to get some exercise. You can go hiking with friends, or you can go alone. It’s up to you.

  • If you’re planning on going hiking with a friend, there are lots of things that will make the experience more fun and motivating.
  • You can motivate each other by encouraging each other as you’re climbing up hills or walking through rocky areas.
  • You can share tips about how to stay safe while hiking for example, where the steepest parts of trails are located or where there are dangerous objects near streams that might fall in when it rains heavily.

Clean up your house or yard

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and wash dishes.
  • Do wash laundry.
  • Water your plants (or if you don’t have any, find a sun-loving plant at the store and get one).

Ride a bike to get your heart pumping

Riding a bike is great for your health. It’s fun, too. Riding a bike is a great way to get some exercise while enjoying the fresh air and getting from place to place. For those of you who don’t have time to go to the gym or just want something different than your usual workout routine, this could be perfect for you.

Go buy Groceries on foot

Next time you have to do your groceries and think about ordering online, resist that urge and go to the grocery shop in person. You don’t need to pick the one closest to you, go to a back corner near your home and walk into it. By doing your shopping in person you will save yourself some money as well as knock out some micro activity like walking that has a major impact on your overall health.

Yoga is great way exercise

Yoga is a great way to get exercise. It’s good for flexibility and strength, as well as balance, mental health, and stress relief. Yoga can help with depression and anxiety too.

Yoga involves holding poses for a period of time (hence the names ‘stretching’ or ‘balancing’). It also involves breathing exercises called pranayama. This help relaxes your body and mind, so you can focus on the exercises you are doing at that moment without worrying about anything else going on around you.

Go to the beach

A beach is a great place to be for exercise, even if you’re just going for a walk or relaxing by the water. There are plenty of things that you can do at the beach that aren’t normal exercises, but they’re still good for you.

Play in the sand: Getting down on your hands and knees, play with the sand as your child would. You may not be able to get back up easily (which is why I always bring water with me), but its fun.

Play in the water: Just walk into the ocean until it covers your waist, then swim around as much as possible before getting out again. You can also do face dives into shallow pools or puddles if you don’t want to go.

Swimming is low impact exercise

Swimming is a great way to get exercise if you have joint pain. It’s also a low-impact activity, which means swimming can help with back problems and other injuries that limit your mobility. If you like being in the water, swimming will give your body a full-body workout and can help reduce stress.

Play sports

Playing sports is one of the best ways to get exercise and have fun doing it. If you want to play sports, there are lots of options for you. You can play sports with your friends, family or by yourself. If you don’t live close enough to other people to play a sport with them, then you can still try playing some games solo. There are so many different kinds of sports everyone should find something they like no matter what kind of person they are. For example: Baseball, basketball, etc.
